The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) will hold a Forum on Promoting Entrepreneurship through Education for a Stronger Recovery from 2 to 4 November 2022 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The event, which offers both physical and virtual participation, is open to all UN member states. Those attending will include leaders of industries, technology investors, university managers, heads of incubators and innovation hubs, students and researchers from research and development institutions. The Forum will also be attended by members and supporters of the Alliance of Entrepreneurial Universities in Africa and beyond.
The overall objective of the Forum is to encourage universities to promote, nurture and drive entrepreneurship and business development in teaching, research and outreach. The Forum's aims include the following:
- To advance the sharing of experiences and lessons in building a broad-based entrepreneurial culture that cuts across disciplines and sectors.
- To showcase excellence in the promotion of entrepreneurship through education and its outcomes and impacts.
- To stimulate the forging of strategic partnerships among members and with industry and government to address new and emerging challenges.
- To encourage collaborations in research on building innovation and entrepreneurship support ecosystems internally and externally to meet national, regional and global development aspirations.
UNECA has therefore made calls for participants to share what they do at the Forum. Applications can be made in the following categories:
- Excellence in entrepreneurship culture.
- Excellence in go-to-market entrepreneurship support.
- Excellence in student unipreneurs.
