The South African Department of Science and Innovation invites proposals for the World Science Forum (WSF) exhibition taking place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 6 to 9 December 2022.
Background
The WSF is an international conference series on global science policy that brings together scientists, researchers, the private sector, civil society, and the media to discuss the role of science in addressing challenges facing humanity.
Submission of proposals
Interested parties should submit a proposal (300 words or less) detailing what your exhibition will entail and its relevance to the broader World Science Forum 2022, with the overriding theme, Science for Social Justice, with reference to one of the sub-themes below *
- Science for human dignity - What role for science in fighting poverty, unemployment, inequality and exclusion?
- Science for climate justice - How can science working with civil society lead the way in correcting the failure of climate policy?
- Science for Africa and the world - How to unleash the potential of African science in global cooperation?
- Science for diplomacy - How can science reboot multilateralism and global solidarity?
- Justice in science - How to ensure science reflects the society we want?
Applications should be submitted by 18 October 2022 at 16:00 (South Africa time).Late proposals will not be considered.
The proposals will be evaluated by a Committee, which will make a selection and inform the successful participants by 24 October 2022.

Costs
No fee will be charged for exhibiting, and exhibitors are expected to cover their own costs.
Dates
The WSF exhibition will run from 6 to 9 December 2022, from 08:00 to 17:00 on 6 to 8 December 2022, and from 08:00 to 13:00 on 9 December 2022.
Exhibitors will be expected to set up their stands between 10:00 and 16:00 on 5 December 222 and to take them down between 08:00 and 11:00 on 10 December 2022.
Venue for exhibition
The exhibition will take place in Exhibition Hall 1 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, located in the heart of the city.
Booths
The exhibition is limited to 100 exhibition booths, in a standard shell-scheme format.
There are 100 exhibition shell schemes available (one per exhibitor). Of these, 40 are 3 x 3 metres and 60 are 3 x 2 metres. Provision will be made for smaller informal exhibitors.
Each booth will have a table, two chairs, electrical points, lights, a bin, and a plasma screen, should this be required. The costs of placing the exhibit title and a full colour logo on a fascia board for the booth will be covered by the exhibition organisers.
Tablecloths, audio-visual equipment, additional furniture, and any other requirements will be for the exhibitor's own account and can be booked directly with the exhibition company.
A maximum of two exhibition staff will be able to manage their exhibition stand at any one time.
