The Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Mr Buti Manamela, is to receive a vaccine against COVID-19, at the Tshwane University of Technology, on Thursday, 12 August.

The Department of Higher Education and Training together with HIGHER HEALTH has developed a comprehensive vaccination strategy for the post-school education and training (PSET) sector, in alignment with the Department of Health’s national vaccination rollout plan.

The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Dr Blade Nzimande, launched the roll out plan for the PSET sector on 23 July, which commenced with employees older than 35, who make approximately 70% of the workforce, including full time, contract staff, student residence cleaners and security stuff.

HIGHER HEALH is working with the national Department of Health towards further preparing the roll out plan for staff younger than 35, prioritising students occupying university residences and private accommodation.

In keeping with the vaccination roll out drive, the Deputy Minister will conduct a monitoring and support visit to the vaccination site at TUT.
