The Department of Science and Innovation and the South African National Energy Development Institute will host an information session on the recently launched call for proposal on the Long-term Europe-Africa Partnership on Renewable Energy (LEAP-RE) programme.

The virtual information session will take place on 24 February 2021, 10:00-14:00 SAST, to provide prospective call applicants with guidance on preparing their project proposals. In addition, the information session aims to gather researchers, representatives from the private and public sector, and non-governmental organisations from Africa and Europe to network and collaborate with each other on research and innovation activities.

The focus is on the following areas:

  • Mapping joint research and innovation actions for future: Renewable energy sources development.
  • End-of-life and second-life management and environmental impact of renewable energy components.
  • Smart stand-alone systems.
  • Smart grid (different scale) for off grid application.
  • Processes and appliances for productive uses.
  • Innovative solutions for priority domestic uses (clean cooking and cold chain).
