The Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) will participate in the 12th SA Innovation Summit, which is aimed at accelerating innovation and entrepreneurship in the country and the continent. The event takes place from 11 to 13 September, with more than 3 500 delegates from 32 countries expected to attend.


The SA Innovation Summit has gained a reputation as Africa's biggest tech start-up initiative, providing a powerful platform for nurturing, developing and showcasing the best of African innovation. Over 20 universities and research institutions, along with more than 600 companies and organisations, will be represented at the summit.


The event has also become a platform for business-to-business networking, and deals worth more than R1 billion are expected to be negotiated this year.


The summit will feature exciting panel discussions and a number of masterclasses, where experts from across the continent will offer insights into the innovation landscape, as well as knowledge and tools for start-up innovators to achieve exponential growth.


Dr Phil Mjwara, Director-General of the DSI, will join Mr Robert Nkuna, Director-General of the Department of Telecommunications and Postal Services, Mr Sandile Zungu, President of the Black Business Council, and other thought leaders for a panel discussion titled "The future of innovation".
