Media Briefing - Minister Pandor outlines her Department’s plans to spend the R7.5 billion budget vote for 2017/18 financial year

The Department of Science and Technology (DST) Budget Vote debate will be held in the National Assembly Chamber of Parliament, Cape Town, on Tuesday, 16 May 2017 at 14h00.

At 09h00, Minister Naledi Pandor, will brief the media at Imbizo Media Centre, Ground Floor, 120 Plein Street, on the Department of Science and Technology’s (DST) priorities for 2017/18 financial year.

This year’s theme is “The Oliver Tambo legacy: Positioning the national system of innovation for the future”.  

Minister Pandor will outline how the DST plans to spend its allocated budget of R7.5 billion for the 2017/18 financial year and in particular, how it continues to implement initiatives outlined in the National Development Plan.

On the sidelines of the budget vote, the DST will assemble an impressive exhibition at Iziko Museum to demonstrate the value of scientific innovation to society. This year, special focus will be given to exhibits focusing on grassroots innovations.
