The objective of the conference is to present critical national reports on shale gas in South Africa, provide a platform for debate, and consolidate common findings and recommendations, in order to achieve consensus towards an action plan.

 

The reports that will be presented include the Academy of Science of South Africe (ASSAf) report on South Africa's Technical Readiness to Support the Shale Gas Industry, and the Department of Environmental Affairs report on Shale Gas Development in the Central Karoo: A Scientific Assessment of the Opportunities and Risks.
