“I have not been absent without leave”: Pandor
Since she became a cabinet minister in May 2004, Minister Pandor has never missed oral question time without sending an explanation for her absence to Parliament. When she has been unavailable, another minister or a deputy minister has always been on hand to answer questions in her place.
“The DA is incorrect to name and shame me,” Minister Pandor said. “I take great care over oral and written questions. I understand the importance of parliament’s role in holding the executive to account.
The DA, however, regularly confuses oversight with political grandstanding.”
